Building Bridges Across Our Divides

Broadcast date: 7/23/2015

People of Faith for Justice are an interfaith alliance in San Luis Obispo County, dedicated to promoting peace and justice for all.

As an organization of clergy and laity from a variety of backgrounds, People of Faith for Justice express a commitment to justice in different ways, depending upon their faith. They believe that social justice concerns touch every level of social, economic, and political life, and the issue of environmental justice, specifically, is a critical problem facing humankind and the whole of creation. They believe that faith based communities, reflecting the diverse religious complexion of the Central Coast, can come together to address these social and environmental justice issues.

Join host Kris Kington-Barker as she speaks with guests from People of Faith for Justice, the Reverend Dr. Richard Kurrasch, of the Disciples of Christ, and also the Executive Director of People of Faith for Justice, Rev. Luanne Griguoli retired pastor of Nipomo Presbyterian Church and Regina Whitaker, member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Luis Obispo and board member as they talk about their new program, “Building Bridges Across Our Divides” and  discuss how they inform and inspire others to take positive action in their communities.

Central Coast Voices is sponsored by ACTION for Healthy Communities in collaboration with KCBX and made possible through underwriting by Joan Gellert-Sargen.

Kris Kington-Barker is co-host of Central Coast Voices, heard every Thursday on KCBX from 1:00—12:00 p.m. Kris has worked in healthcare fields ranging from mental health to hospital administration, and has served as a volunteer and board member for many Central Coast non-profit organizations.
