Celebrating Biking on the Central Coast

Broadcast date: 5/11/17

The Central Coast is often considered a road bicycling and mountain bicycler’s paradise. And yet, in the 2016 ACTION Vital Signs Report, even more bike paths and mountain biking trails together earned the third most wanted public recreation opportunities that people would like to see more of in San Luis Obispo County. Whether biking for enjoyment or to work, many are increasingly seeing the benefits of this activity for health, happiness, and the environment.

Join us in celebrating Bike Month throughout the month of May as host Fred Munroe speaks with Stephanie Hicks, Division Chief with SLO Regional Rideshare, Mike Bennet, Executive Director with Bike SLO County and Connor Culhane, President with Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers (CCCMB) about the benefits of bicycling, both for recreation and transportation, and what these organizations are doing to make bicycling safer for everyone, and encourage more people to incorporate bicycling into their daily lives.

Central Coast Voices is sponsored by ACTION for Healthy Communities in collaboration with KCBX and made possible through underwriting by Joan Gellert-Sargen.

Fred Munroe is a co-host of the KCBX talk show Central Coast Voices, heard every Thursday afternoon from 1:00-2:00. Fred has successfully divided his time as a local entrepreneur, political leader, and communicator. He owns and manages two local firms addressing personal travel planning and public transportation; Travel With Fred and Ridership Development Consultants.
