SLO Police report rescue of 15-year-old girl from human trafficking abduction

San Luis Obispo Police Department

UPDATE: Friday, July 31, 2015

The 16-year-old boy accused of human trafficking in San Luis Obispo County this week will be tried as an adult. District Attorney Dan Dow says it's at his discretion to have Nikko Anaya of Manteca face adult charges and can do so under Proposition 21, which was approved by voters in 2000.

Investigators say the 15-year-old victim—a girl from Manteca—was sold for sex acts over the course of a week in Santa Cruz, Pismo Beach, and San Luis Obispo.

Three other adults are also facing charges as part of this trafficking case.

Two adults and a teenage boy were in custody Wednesday facing charges of human trafficking and conspiracy in San Luis Obispo County.

Brianna Morales and Fabio Silveira, both 20 and from Chico, were arrested Tuesday afternoon along with a 16-year-old boy from Manteca.

Officers with the San Luis Obispo Police Department were looking for a 15 year old Manteca girl at the request of that city's police department.

Investigators say they found the girl inside a hotel room on Monterey Street "alone and terrified of the situation she was in," the police report said. She was given necessary attention by professionals and later reunited with her family.

Officers believe the girl was forced into acts of prostitution throughout the county since last weekend.

The 16-year-old boy was booked into the Juvenile Services Center on charges of human trafficking, abduction for purposes of prostitution, false imprisonment, and criminal conspiracy.

The adults also face the trafficking and conspiracy charges. In addition, Morales faces the abduction charge and a charge of child endangerment.
