On Issues & Ideas, we take a look at the labor rights of farm workers in "Beyond the Furrows", KCBX's 12 part series. Car Week in Monterey is this week, and 85 thousand visitors are expected, adding 67 million dollars to the local economy. Dr. Allen Radner, the chief medical officer at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, talks about the continued threat of the Delta Variant in Monterey County. You’ll hear from local earthquake experts about the probability of “The Big One”, and it's potential damage to the Central Coast. On this week’s Nonprofit Story, you’ll hear from Amy Lewis of ECHO, about their 20 years of helping unhoused individuals. And finally, you’ll hear from SLO County's 1st District Supervisor John Peschong on redistricting.

Francisco Martinez joined KCBX in January 2021 as a substitute staff announcer and then became a regular afternoon announcer, occasional reporter and host of Citizen Sound, our two-hour alternative music show that airs at 11:00 p.m. Sundays. Francisco moved back to the Bay Area in January 2022 and departed as Citizen Sound’s regular host in June 2022; he’s since returned as a fill-in host for Citizen Sound, Speak Low and anything else that’s needed.
