This week marks the beginning of nonstop flights between San Luis Obispo and Denver, Colorado. The inaugural United Airlines flight from Denver arrives the evening of June 7.

The first departure for Denver takes off Thursday morning at 5:30 a.m.

A party kicking off the service takes place Wednesday evening at the airport with local politicians and airport and airline officials cutting a symbolic ribbon.

“As the region’s economic development organization, we have worked lock-step with the airport for several years to help bring Denver service to the area," said the county's Economic Vitality Corporation president Michael Manchak in a statement.

United currently flies daily non-stop flights from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The addition of a third non-stop destination brings the total number of daily flights from the San Luis Obispo Airport to 13.

A search Wednesday afternoon on the United Airlines website for a one-way ticket between San Luis Obispo and Denver on July 5, 2017 returned a price quote of $214 for a basic economy ticket.
