Rockbridge County Virginia sampler—from Jefferson’s Natural Bridge to most historic Hampton Inn
Rockbridge County Virginia is steeped in history--a drive down Lexington’s main street is like stepping back in time—so much so that Hollywood has utilized downtown as a movie set for Revolutionary War, and Civil War era films. They just move the cars out and top up the roadways with dirt and they’re ready to roll.
Come along and join Jean Clark, Rockbridge County, Virginia Director of Tourism for an engaging overview of cool things to do and see in the region.
We’ll stop in at the George C. Marshall Museum on the campus of VMI, a visit Stonewall Jackson’s home, Washington and Lee University where Robert E. Lee radically transformed America’s university educational system.
We’ll also visit Natural Bridge State Park that was long ago adored by, and personally owned by Thomas Jefferson. Lexington is also home to the most historic Hampton Inn in America—as its centerpiece is an 1827 antebellum Manor House.
