Journeys of Discovery: Birmingham showcases world’s largest motorcycle collection
Jeff Ray, executive director at Alabama’s Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, talks about the institution, which many consider a $100 million investment in the state of Alabama and its largest philanthropic enterprise.
George Barber decided to dedicate a portion of his dairy industry fortune showcasing the world’s largest collection of motorcycles (1,600), including super rare steam-powered bicycles dating from the 1860s. Barber is also home to The Porsche Track Experience; the world’s largest factory-sponsored driving school.
Barber hosts the annual IndyCar Honda Grand Prix of Alabama and sponsors the Annual Barber Vintage Festival, attracting more than 80,000 participants.
