Journeys of Discovery: SFO’s trendsetting aviation history museum and art galleries

Join correspondent Tom Wilmer for a visit with Tim O’Brien, assistant director and curator of exhibitions at the SFO Museum. SFO showcases the arts, science, pop-culture, anthropology and aviation history in 28 galleries located in terminals throughout the airport.

America’s only fully accredited museum housed within an airport, SFO’s trendsetting arts program has stimulated similar arts programs at airports around the country.

On the outside of TSA security at the International Terminal, the San Francisco Airport Commission’s Aviation Library is housed in a replica of the cira-1937 Mills Field Terminal (SFO’s precursor) with a coveted permanent collection of more than 140,000 historic aviation artifacts.
