One of the more hotly contested races on the Central Coast this spring was the one for San Luis Obispo County District Attorney.
Overnight numbers show Deputy District Attorney Dan Dow the winner with more than 53 percent of the vote to Assistant District Attorney Tim Covello's nearly 45 percent.
"I'm going to do everything I can to congratulate Tim on having gone through a very tough campaign and a hard campaign, and I'm going to work on our relationship in the office," Dow said about working with his opponent in the future. "I think Mr. Covello has a bright future ahead of him, whether it's in our office or if he chooses to go elsewhere."
Dow continued to say he's happy to work with him and praised his commitment to the community for many years.
Covello did not return our calls for comment.
