  • Neal started his radio career at Cal Poly SLO's KCPR in 1989. He started volunteering at KCBX in 1993, spinning discs every Saturday night on the Night Train, a show he still does today. In 1997 he joined the full-time staff of KCBX as the Music Director and the host of the Morning Cup. Neal has also worked for multiple commercial radio stations over the last 25 years, including K-Otter, K-Bear and The Beach. He has worked at record stores, promoted concerts, written music columns and published his own music magazine over the years. Neal loves sharing music any way he can, and always has, since his early days of taking James Brown 45s to his 2nd grade class for "Show and Tell."
  • Pedro Arroyo’s love for music was influenced by the diverse cultural sounds of his neighborhood of Boyle Heights in Los Angeles where he often heard local Norteño and Mariachi street bands as well as the sounds of Chicana/o punk, oldies and rock. Arroyo caught the radio “bug” while attending California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo and volunteered at KCPR 91.3 FM, Cal Poly’s College Radio station. He also hosted an international music program at KCBX for nearly two decades, before moving to the Bay Area. In addition, Pedro contributed to Audio Excursions, a weekly radio magazine about the Central Coast, and he served on the booking committee for the Live Oak Music Festival.
  • Ron Eminhizer has a longtime love of jazz, and expresses that love on the air at KCBX through his Wednesday night program, The Cutting Edge, which you can hear weekly from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Ron is a longtime member of the production crew at the KCBX Live Oak Music Festival, and has been the technical director at Cuesta College Cultural and Performing Arts Center for many years.
  • Sal’s musical tastes became twisted early by pre-teen exposure to Frank Zappa and Harry Partch. After studying Electronic Music in college, Sal founded the experimental ensemble National Debt and composed music for the Cal Poly dance company Orchesis and the Central Coast Shakespeare Festival.
  • Meghan Keane is the founder and managing producer for NPR's Life Kit, which brings listeners advice and actionable information about personal finances, health, parenting, relationships and more. She is responsible for the editorial vision of Life Kit, which aims to serve NPR's larger mission of public service.

  • Garret Olson co-hosts our alternative music show, Citizen Sound on Sunday nights from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Growing up in Southern California, Garret was raised on a steady diet of music played by the influential alternative rock station KROQ. That foundation informs much of what you'll hear him play on KCBX.
  • Greg has been with KCBX since 2009 when he was first hired to manage KCBXnet, the Internet and computer-training arm of KCBX, Inc. He was development director from January of 2017 until September of 2023, when he retired. He continues part time with KCBX, working on fundraising, event organizing and marketing for the station.
  • Gabriela Fernandez came to KCBX in May of 2022 as a general assignment reporter, and became news director in December of 2023. In September of 2024 she returned to reporting full time.
