Travel up, gas prices down for Thanksgiving weekend in California
Gas prices in California are now 37 cents-per-gallon cheaper than this same time last year, according to fuel tracking company GasBuddy, and they're predicted to continue falling.
Nationally, prices are headed below $2 per-gallon, something not seen since March of 2009.
The low prices coincide with what's expected to be another busy holiday weekend on local roads, said AAA. The number of people driving is expected to be up slightly over last year.
Will Speer with GasBuddy said Tuesday that motorists along the Central Coast are paying the most in the state, but don't have to drive far to get a better deal.
"In California, you'll see Santa Cruz County having some of the least expensive gasoline, while San Luis Obispo has some of the most expensive gasoline, once again," said Speer.
Speer said if you can wait, prices should be cheaper later in the week, and if you're headed out of state that's where you'll find the lowest prices.
