Join the California Nature Art Museum and Gyotaku Artist Jason Bero for a printmaking workshop. During this unique, hands-on experience, you’ll learn to apply ink to seashells, seaweed, and other coastal artifacts for printing onto rice paper in the traditional Japanese art form of Gyotaku. Participants who are comfortable may also choose to create a print using fish freshly caught on a local boat charter. All participants will take home at least one printed piece, customized based on their own artifact selections.
Advance registration is required, 15 attendees maximum. Questions? Email Assistant Director Rachel Metz at rachel@calnatureartmuseum.org
In the second half of life, when we can no longer ignore our mortality and aging body, the task to create meaning for what remains of our life becomes more urgent. Ancient cultures did not postpone this task until old age.
For many of us, old religious symbols and rituals that once provided a collective container are no longer alive and nourishing. We keep looking for something to grasp and hold onto to feel safe in the turbulence of life. It is essential for each one of us to discover living symbols to help us navigate the vicissitudes of life and our individual passage into death. Symbols try to emerge into being, but often we don’t recognize their meaning and ignore them, thus blocking the stream of psychic life.
This workshop helps you recognize such images as their arise. I will help you trust the creative forces that are within you already so you can reflect on a vessel that can most deeply nurture your becoming.
Get ready for a fast-paced, door-slamming, laugh-out-loud comedy! In a seedy motel room, two rookie cops set up a sting operation to catch a corrupt mayor. But when the mayor’s nervous accountant arrives, mistaken identities, double-crosses, and a mysterious Scottish hit man throw everything hilariously off-course. With eight doors, nonstop confusion, and a steady stream of outrageous twists, this award-winning farce delivers a night of side-splitting fun. Buckle up—it’s going to be a wild (and very funny) ride!
Come enjoy an afternoon of piano, oboe, violin chamber music with musicians from the SLO Symphony. The Seashore Trio will perform an eclectic program of Shostakovich, Telemann, Faure, Beatles, Morricone, and more.

Now, four decades later, we’re honoring our roots, reliving favorite moments, and looking ahead to the next 40 years.
Expect an afternoon of powerful and sentimental music, community spirit, and a joyful trip down memory lane. Admission, refreshments and parking are free, donations are welcome, and everyone is invited! All donations will benefit Woods Humane Society.
These interactive, welcoming workshops use the tools of improvisational theater—like play, spontaneity, and "yes, and"—to build real-life skills for communication, confidence, and connection. No acting or comedy experience is needed. Through guided games and group activities, participants explore how improv principles can help them listen more fully, respond more flexibly, and thrive in daily life, even when things don’t go as planned.
Whether you're looking to speak up more, connect with others, or simply have fun in a judgment-free space, these workshops offer something for everyone.
1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, 9/21-12/7.

This exhibition showcases historic Broadway posters from collector Richard C. Norton, a comprehensive selection of musical theater posters 1972 to the present ranging from the famous to the obscure, from the celebrated to the damned. These posters offer insight into the evolution of American musical theater, graphic design, marketing, image branding and audience engagement. Far more than advertisements, they reflect the artistic, social and commercial contexts of their time—revealing how productions were first introduced, how stars were celebrated, and how visual trends paralleled theatrical innovation.
Exhibition runs from October 6 to December 5.
