The Arroyo Grande Police Department said Tuesday afternoon that the teacher being investigated for sexual assault is a woman. The student is a boy under the age of 18.
Original story:
An Arroyo Grande High School teacher is under investigation following a report of sexual assault against a student.
"The suspect has not been arrested and no criminal charges have been filed with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office at this time," Commander Beau Pryor with the Arroyo Grande Police Department said Tuesday in a media statement.
The teacher is on administrative leave while facts are gathered, Pryor said.
"Arroyo Grande Police Department detectives are currently interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence," Pryor said in a statement released Tuesday. "No additional information about this investigation will be provided at this time, as it could interfere with the active investigation."
The allegations were first brought to the administrative staff at the high school, who then notified police back on Friday, December 4, according to Pryor.
