Brush fire closes Hwy. 101 lanes at Cuesta Grade
The Tower Fire that burned 58 acres near the Cuesta Grade is 100 percent contained, CalFire announced at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
As of 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, the blaze had burned 58 acres and was 50 percent contained. The fire started after flames from a burning car on the side of the highway ignited surrounding brush.
Two lanes of Highway 101 were closed Friday just after the fire started and remain closed as of Saturday. The area is expected to be congested throughout the day and power lines in the area are down.
