Local government roundup: 03/27/2017

Greta Mart

In local government this week, Monterey County officials are slated to make decisions related to the new county jail expansion project. The $89 million dollar project is almost ready to go out to bid, but first the board of supervisors has to sign off on a staffing and operations plan for the facility for next 30 years.

The board will also talk about the planned new juvenile hall project in Salinas. Now projected to cost $59 million dollars, the construction contract is being awarded to Zovich Construction of Antioch, California. The Monterey County successor agency to the county's former redevelopment agency also meets this week, as does the county's planning commission, budget committee and zoning administrator.

The San Luis and Santa Barbara county boards are not meeting this week.
