Tuesday was a tough day for Democrats nationally with Republicans extending their control in the House of Representative and taking control of the U.S. Senate.
In California however, Democrats swept all of the statewide offices and on the Central Coast Rep. Lois Capps (D-Santa Barbara) held on to her 24th District Seat for yet another term.
Final numbers show the incumbent victorious over her Republican challenger Chris Mitchum, 51.6 to 48.4 percent.
