Bob Jones Trail extension approved by County Board of Supervisors

SLO County Bike Coalition

The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to certify the final environmental impact report and approve the project alignment of the final section of the Bob Jones Trail.

Anne Wyatt is on the steering committee of the Friends of the Bob Jones Trail.

She said the vote was a 'feel good moment' and they are certainly celebrating, but they're gearing up for the next steps.

"I think for us it's a matter of getting to work on the next steps, the more important step, and what will potentially be the harder votes when it comes to approving funding," said Wyatt.

Shaun Cooper, Senior Parks Planner for San Luis Obispo County Parks, said that if all goes as planned, the first phase of construction will begin in 2017.

He says they still have to go through several permitting steps and the county still needs the full funding for the project.
