Organizers from the Amgen Tour of California are planning to work with residents of Avila Beach, who will host the end of Stage 4 this coming May.
Stage 4 starts in Pismo Beach and ends in Avila Beach, two neighboring communities about six miles apart. But, the race will tack on an addition 100 miles to the route, taking riders into northern Santa Barbara County and through Arroyo Grande on the return trip.
A special public meeting is scheduled for March 31, 2015 to give Avila residents an in-depth preview of how Stage 4 may affect them directly. The town only has one road in and one road out, so traffic constraints can have serious consequences.
The City of Santa Barbara is hosting the start of Stage 5, which ends in Santa Clarita.
