Journeys of Discovery: Wine clubs a 'salvation' for wineries during pandemic closures

Correspondent Tom Wilmer talks with wine producer Vic Roberts, owner of Victor Hugo Winery in Templeton, about transformations in the wine industry in response to COVID-19.

Roberts, a 1979 graduate of U.C. Davis’s enology program, has produced wines in the Central Coast Paso Robles AVA since 1982. He says that wine clubs are a salvation for wineries, especially for those with retail tasting rooms now shuttered. He also talks about changes in harvesting practices in response to the pandemic.
