Fourth of July

All bars across San Luis Obispo County are now ordered to close for the weekend, to "avoid large congregations of individuals in close proximity within a confined space."

The Fourth of July is a reminder that we are a part of something greater than ourselves. That being a part of this country requires that we each find a way to exercise our rights and honor our responsibilities as citizens. But how do we celebrate at a time when it feels as if the foundation of the United States is shifting? Tune in for a conversation with the reluctant therapist, Elizabeth Barrett about the need for recovering our inner patriot. Your calls will be welcomed and encouraged.

The number of Central Coast locations where you can see live fireworks displays this Fourth of July holiday is dwindling. Cambria is the latest location to opt out.

Plans for this year's Fourth of July fireworks display in Morro Bay are now canceled.

The Lompoc Police Department has issued its first illegal fireworks citation of the season which carries a $1500 fine.

The city has a zero tolerance policy and is using addition police and firefighters to enforce it.

Illegal fireworks include all launched, exploding, and otherwise ignited fireworks that do not meet the "safe and sane" definition.

Permitted "safe and sane" fireworks can be used within the city only on the 4th of July and only until 10:00 p.m.
