Art Center Morro Bay proudly presents the MBAA Illuminations exhibit joined with the Central Coast Artists Collective of Photography and Fine Craft juried exhibit. Illuminations: Reflections and Shadows: we see them in a mirror, a pond, or a puddle. It could be your face, the light from the sky, or the silhouette of a scene shining on a surface. Illuminations is an MBAA members-only exhibition which dives into the study of light and the ways it reveals, transforms and inspires. CCAC Photographers & Craft makers: Central Coast Photographic Society and the Craft makers Coalition join forces for an exhibition in the Russell Gallery (upstairs), running concurrently with "Illuminations" downstairs. Member artists display recent works, highlighting variety in technique and subject matter.Runs through June 23.
Spokes Ask an Expert is a series of small-group learning sessions that bring together nonprofit leaders and staff with local experts to explore timely and relevant topics. This session, dedicated to Fundraising, is designed for organizations that may not have a Development Director.Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance and engage in live discussions during the session.The following topics could serve as a basis for generating questions:—Developing a Fundraising Strategy—Donor Cultivation & Retention—Priority of Fundraising Campaigns and Channels—Messaging and Storytelling—Evaluating Data to Measure Success—Board Engagement—Managing Donor Data—Grant WritingTime with the expert and space are limited. The Cambria Center for the Arts (CCA) is thrilled to announce this special exhibit, a unique art and literary event. The work of local visual artists will be displayed along with accompanying brief, written interpretations provided by a talented community of writers. Participants will include the Joslyn Center group, “Rough Writers,” as well as a variety of local poets, novelists, journalists, and high school students. Amateur and professional writers will partake in this event. Science After Dark is a lecture series at the Central Coast Aquarium. Join us for local wine and heavy appetizers from 6 to 6:45 pm while you tour the aquarium. Coffee, tea and desserts to follow with our guest speaker beginning at 7 pm.Lecture by Dr. Kevin Johnson, California Sea Grant Extension Aquaculture Specialist & Cal Poly Professor- This beloved professor conducts aquaculture labs and classes for the college as well as spearheads research for California Sea Grant. Basically he is an oyster specialist who grows, compares and contrast the native Olympia oysters vs the imported Pacific oyster. Accompanying him is graduate student, Shannon Baldwin, whose research encompasses a project in the Morro Bay Estuary.
