Pismo Mayor drops out of race for SLO County Supervisor

City of Pismo Beach

One of the candidates running for the 3rd District San Luis Obispo County Supervisor seat is dropping out of the race.

Pismo Beach Mayor Shelly Higginbotham says she will no longer campaign for the position.

The mayor says it feels like the right time to leave before she and her supporters invest too much into the campaign. She says there are some significant projects ahead of her in Pismo Beach.

"They're really going to require a lot of focus from all of us here in the city," said Higginbotham. "I felt that this is my first responsibility after my family to really focus on what needs to be done in Pismo Beach."

Higginbotham says she is not backing any of the remaining candidates at this time.

Supervisor Adam Hill currently holds the seat and he's running to keep it. San Luis Obispo city council member Dan Carpenter is also is the race as is former Grover Beach mayor Debbie Peterson.
