Protestors filled Downtown San Luis Obispo on May 15 and waved Palestinian flags to mark Nakba Day. Nakba, translated into Arabic, means ‘catastrophe.’ The Day commemorates the displacement of an estimated 750,000 Palestinians during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

Eight people were arrested at Cal Poly SLO Thursday while protesting for Palestinian lives. The individuals chained themselves together and blocked traffic at California Boulevard — one of the main entrances at the university, according to Cal Poly representatives.

More than one hundred students, faculty and staff gathered at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for a demonstration in support of Palestinian civilians Thursday.
