A blistering satire that slices through the “story” of Thanksgiving. In this play by Larissa Fasthorse, good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in this wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of well-meaning, but hilariously misguided teaching artists scramble to create a school pageant that can somehow celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month.
Marcus Shelby, notable Bay Area bassist, bandleader, composer and educator, will be the featured at the Cal Poly Spring Jazz Concert. Shelby, who was also a member of the University Jazz Band (UJB) from 1988-89, will direct the band and play bass in a set of his original compositions and arrangements. Dave Becker will direct the UJB for other pieces. The Jazz Combos, directed by Dylan Johnson, and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Inga Swearingen, will open the concert.

Alma Rosa Winery is continuing its commitment to mental health-related causes with its fifth annual Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction fundraising walk. Funds raised from this event will support community services, research and treatment for anxiety and depression through two beneficiaries, Santa Barbara’s Mental Wellness Center and One Mind. The 10,000-step walk (approximately 4.5 miles) will take place at Alma Rosa’s beautiful 628-acre Sta. Rita Hills estate, located north of Santa Barbara near the town of Buellton, Calif. In 1989, a small group walking tour of the downtown area began being led by highly knowledgeable volunteer docents. These Saturday tours focused on architectural styles, significant and historic buildings, aesthetics, past and present building usage, and landscape history. To this day, tours are available every Saturday and Sunday at 10 am led by our dedicated and knowledgeable group of volunteer docents. Barkapalooza is an annual fundraiser to support Sherwood Dog Park, in Paso Robles. We will have lunches for $5 (hot dog, chips and a drink), lots of cool silent auction items, a bake sale with treats for dogs and humans and a photographer to take pictures of dogs and their humans. All proceeds raised will go to the repair and maintenance of the dog park. Please come by, browse our donated auction items and meet some amazing dogs and community members!
This May exhibit by Lori Slater features a selection from the last 20 years of 12 representational watercolors and acrylics. The subject matter includes some figures in natural and imaginative environments, with the seaside a recurring theme.
Embark on a journey where the worlds of poetry and visual arts intertwine at our latest exhibition, "Poetic Prints." In collaboration with the Central Coast Printmakers and local poets, this exhibition explores creativity across mediums. The exhibition can be seen on Sundays to Thursdays from 12 to 4 pm and Fridays to Saturdays from 12 to 9 pm.
