Primary 2020: Central Coast results

KCBX News is updating the results in this post as they come in.

The latest unofficial vote tally was released on Monday, March 9 just before 5 p.m. There are still 4,784 ballots to be processed by the San Luis Obispo County Elections division. Clerk-recorder Tommy Gong said it's "to be determined" when the next counting will take place. 

As of Monday evening, in the races for San Luis Obispo County supervisor: for District 1, John Peschong is far in the lead with 66% of the vote, while challenger Stephanie Shakofsky has 34% of the vote.

In District 3, incumbent Adam Hill is ahead of challenger Stacy Korsgadan, with Hill at 51% of the vote and Korsgaden at 49%. According to the county elections office, as of Monday evening, 817 ballots are still unprocessed in that race.

In District 5, incumbent Debbie Arnold has 55% of the vote to Ellen Beraud’s 46%. 1,427 ballots now remain to be counted in that race.

So far, a wide majority of Oceano voters have said 'yes' to a special tax, but the 'yes' vote tally is just below what's necessary for a two-thirds majority. As of the latest count, the 'yes' vote is at 65.72% of the vote. But it must cross the 66.67% threshold for passage. Measure A-20 aims to raise money to keep providing the Oceano community with fire protection services from the Five Cities Fire Authority.

UPDATE FRIDAY, MARCH 6

The latest unofficial vote count was released on Friday, March 6, just before 4 p.m. There now remains 16,546 ballots to be counted by the San Luis Obispo County Elections division. The next counting is scheduled for Monday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m.

As of Friday evening, in the races for San Luis Obispo County supervisor: for District 1, John Peschong is far in the lead with 66% of the vote, while challenger Stephanie Shakofsky has 34% of the vote.

In District 3, incumbent Adam Hill has surged ahead of challenger Stacy Korsgadan, with Hill at 51% of the vote and Korsgaden at 49%. According to the county elections office as of Friday evening, 3,315 ballots are still unprocessed in that race.

In District 5, incumbent Debbie Arnold has 55% of the vote to Ellen Beraud’s 45%. Just under 4,000 ballots now remain to be counted in that race. 

So far, a wide majority of Oceano voters have said yes to a special tax, but the vote count is just below what's necessary for a two-thirds majority. Measure A-20 aims to raise money to keep providing the Oceano community with fire protection services from the Five Cities Fire Authority.

After Andy Caldwell led in the earliest of returns, incumbent Salud Carbajal has surged ahead in the vote for the 24th Congressional District. Both candidates will appear on the November general election ballot.

In the race for the District 17 seat in the California Senate, Republican Vicki Nohrden and Democrat John Laird are the frontrunners. That race will be decided in November between the top two vote-getters, as will the race between Jordan Cunningham and Dawn Addis for the state Assembly. As of the latest numbers, Cunningham is in the lead.

The latest tally was released at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night, with 100% of precincts reporting. These unofficial election night numbers are preliminary and expected to change as vote-by-mail ballots come in and are counted.

In the races for San Luis Obispo County supervisor: for District 1, John Peschong is ahead with 67% of the vote, while challenger Stephanie Shakofsky has 33% of the vote.

In District 3, challenger Stacy Korsgaden is in the lead, with 51% of the vote so far. Incumbent Adam Hill is at 49%, and the margin between the two candidate is narrowing as more precincts report.

In District 5, incumbent Debbie Arnold has 57% of the vote to Ellen Beraud’s 43%.
