The Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble’s spring concert will include a set of Syriac songs from the Assyrian peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean and the world premiere of “here & there” by the ensemble's director Ken Habib, an instrumental composition rooted in Arab art music with a footing in jazz. San Luis Obispo dance director Jenna Mitchell will lead the dance troupe in original choreography that dialogues with the music. Tickets are sold at the Cal Poly Ticket Office, 805-756-4849.

Hundreds of vendors fill the Sunset Drive-In every Sunday morning from 6 am to 3 pm for their weekly Swap Meet. There are food trucks and parking is free outside the gate. Admission is $1.00. Rain cancels.
Learn about the microscopic life that is hidden beneath the waves and is crucial to all of life on Earth. We will explore the diversity of the marine plankton community, what factors keep it in balance, and the critical role it plays in ocean ecosystems. As a group, we will be using a video microscope to view a living plankton net sample. Participants will also have an opportunity to see other specimens through individual microscopes set up around the room.
Share the Greek Culture! Featuring mouth-watering Greek cuisine, delectable desserts and Greek coffee. Enjoy a Greek bouzouki band; Greek dancing performed by local and guest dance troupes, Greek dance lessons and more dancing for everyone. Art Center Morro Bay proudly presents the MBAA Illuminations exhibit joined with the Central Coast Artists Collective of Photography and Fine Craft juried exhibit. Illuminations: Reflections and Shadows: we see them in a mirror, a pond, or a puddle. It could be your face, the light from the sky, or the silhouette of a scene shining on a surface. Illuminations is an MBAA members-only exhibition which dives into the study of light and the ways it reveals, transforms and inspires. CCAC Photographers & Craft makers: Central Coast Photographic Society and the Craft makers Coalition join forces for an exhibition in the Russell Gallery (upstairs), running concurrently with "Illuminations" downstairs. Member artists display recent works, highlighting variety in technique and subject matter.Runs through June 23.
Named for Eric Whitacre’s momentous work, the concert will focus on themes of struggle, hope and healing. “The Sacred Veil” will be performed by PolyPhonics and Chamber Choir. Scott Glysson will conduct the choirs. Tickets are sold at the Cal Poly Ticket Office, 805-756-4849
The SLO County Jazz Federation is proud to present their 40th annual Piano Showcase. The show features some of the best pianists in the area: Jim Barnett, Marshall Ottwell, George Garcia, Jamaal Baptiste, Craig Updegrove and Andrew Sedly with Dylan Johson on bass and Darrell Voss on drums.Proceeds are a major fundraiser for the Jazz Federation's Annual Student Scholarships.

The Friends of El Moro Elfin Forest (FEMEF) in Los Osos is the nonprofit responsible for maintaining the Elfin Forest, a nature preserve at the north end of Los Osos For 25 years, Yolanda Waddell, a founding FEMEF member, has been the lead editor of our quarterly newsletter, the "Oakleaves" (Fall issue: https://www.elfin-forest.org/library/oakleaves/archives/2024-09.pdf). Along with other long-time editors, she will be stepping down after the Winter issue.We are now searching for a new editorial team, including two text editors and a photo editor, but more help is always welcome.
