Lace up your running shoes and join the Goleta Education Foundation (GEF) for a very special 11th Annual Lemon Run. This beloved community event is back, bigger and better than ever, to celebrate eleven years of running to advance elementary education in the Goodland.

This year’s race kicks off at 8:00 am with the 10K Grand Prix, followed by the 5K Jr. Grand Prix at 9:30 am, and wraps up with the 1K Fun Run at 10:30 am.

Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to enjoy the scenic trails along Obern Trail and Goleta Beach.

Art Center Morro Bay presents the “Love of Nature” exhibit, an experience of beauty, wonder, and diversity of the Central Coast through the unique perspectives of local artists. Discover familiar scenes of the ocean, bay, marshes, mountains, plants, and wildlife, along with imaginative and abstract interpretations that invite you to see nature in new ways.

September 17th to November 2nd, 12 to 4 pm.
Reception: September 20th, 2 to 4 pm

The Cambria Center for the Arts (CCA) presents "Mix it Up!", a vibrant mixed media exhibition. This showcase celebrates creativity without boundaries, featuring the innovative work of featured artist Carolyn Chambers. Additionally, works by our local artists exploring diverse materials and techniques and combining media in unexpected ways will be on display.

Exhibit runs: September 1 to November 1.
Artist’s Reception: September 5, 4:30 to 6 pm.
Hours: 12 to 4 pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

The Creative Quills Community Poetry Collective provides a supportive platform for local poets to share their creative works. Come and enjoy a magical afternoon of some great poetry on the third Sunday of each month.

The Los Osos Valley Garden Club September Meeting and Community Program will be “Creating Your Own Kitchen ‘Farmacy’ with herbs, spices and garden foods” presented by Ann Newland.

NPR’s popular show Hidden Brain is coming to San Luis Obispo for a live conversation with the show’s host, veteran science journalist Shankar Vedantam, presented in a collaboration between KCBX Public Radio and Cal Poly Arts. This event is part of Hidden Brain’s national “Perceptions” tour, and San Luis Obispo is the show’s only stop on the West Coast.

To celebrate Hidden Brain’s 10-year anniversary, Vedantam is bringing the show to the live stage as he shares seven powerful insights learned over the past decade helping millions of listeners better understand themselves and the world around them. He explores the unconscious patterns that shape human behavior through a unique blend of science, storytelling, and psychology. The award-winning podcast tackles some of life’s most compelling questions, like Why do we feel stuck? How can we become more creative? What strengthens our relationships? and What hidden forces influence the choices we make every day?

Vedantam offers an engaging experience with fresh perspectives on how the mind works and how to live a more intentional, connected life. North SLO County Concert Association presents Crystal Lewis. Born and raised in Southern CA, 3-time Grammy-nominated, singer-songwriter has performed on the world's biggest stages from Walt Disney Concert Hall to Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Crystal brings a whole lot of love and light to the stage.

Join Greenspace for a presentation highlighting an understanding of plant needs, their relationships, and how our gardens integrate with each other. We delve into creating root-friendly soil and dig deeper into the influence each garden can have ecologically and on the quality of our lives.

Brian Keeley is a Greenspace Board Member and Conservation Steward for the Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District. Brian brings a wealth of expertise in ecological restoration and wildlife ecology, along with a diverse background spanning botany, entomology, ornithology, herpetology, mammalogy, and aquaculture.

The League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County is partnering with the AAUW 5 Cities Pismo Beach Branch to moderate a forum for candidates for Lucia Mar USD School Board. The forum will be held in person. It will also be live-streamed on slo-span.org and will be available on the League's YouTube Channel for later viewing.

Candidate forums are intended to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about the candidates and their views on the issues. Community members are encouraged to attend the forum and to submit questions for the candidates at the forum. Questions should be on the issues and applicable to all candidates.
